The Nordic Heritage experience

Nordic Heritage is designed for couples who want more than a wedding day.

Whether you are planning an intimate wedding, an elopement or a vow renewal, the experience is built around slowing down and being present.

Stay in historic surroundings, enjoy locally inspired meals, explore the landscape and celebrate your story in a setting deeply rooted in Norwegian tradition.

Every experience is carefully curated and tailored to each couple, allowing you to focus on what matters most while we take care of the details.

Historic surroundings, modern comfort
A place where history still lives

Hidden among the forests and rolling cultural landscapes of Toten, Norway lies Grøna Skysstasjon.

Once a historic inn along the old King's road, Grøna has been carefully restored and brought back to life. Not as a museum, but as a place meant to be used, shared and celebrated.

Here, old timber buildings still welcome guests. Meals are shared around the table. Stories are told. Music is played. And new memories are created in surroundings shaped by generations before us.

Surrounded by forests, quiet roads and open countryside, Grøna offers a rare combination of history, atmosphere and comfort.
Despite its peaceful setting, Grøna is located just one hour from Oslo Airport (Gardermoen), making it easily accessible for both Norwegian and international guests.

Why Nordic Heritage

Nordic Heritage grew out of a lifelong fascination with stories, traditions and the landscapes that shape us.

Long before I became a photographer, I found my way into Norwegian folklore and history, folk music and cultural heritage. What began as a child's fascination for old stories told by my great grandparents and a great appreciation for folk music, eventually led me into years of involvement with history, culture and storytelling in different forms.

My academic background, my love of folklore and my work as a photographer have all shaped how I see the world.

Over the years I have photographed in dramatic landscapes across both Norway and Scotland, learning how powerful a sense of place can be. But while Scotland has taught me a great deal and always will be part of my style and approach, it is the Norwegian forests, cultural landscapes and traditions that have shaped me throughout my life and become a part of who I am.

The deep forests. The quiet lakes. The old timber buildings. The stories woven into the landscape.

Nordic Heritage is my way of bringing all these passions together — photography, nature, history, tradition and meaningful human connection.

Your Ceremony, Your Way

At the heart of every wedding is the ceremony itself.

Whether you dream of exchanging vows surrounded by forest and birdsong, celebrating with your closest family and friends, or simply reaffirming your commitment to one another, your ceremony should feel personal and meaningful.

Nordic Heritage welcomes intimate weddings, elopements and vow renewals, allowing each couple to create a celebration that reflects their own story and values.

Both legal and symbolic ceremonies are possible. We are happy to guide you through the available options and help connect you with local officiants and ceremony providers where appropriate.

There is no single way to celebrate love. Some couples choose a legally binding ceremony, while others prefer a symbolic exchange of vows in a setting that feels deeply personal.

Whatever path you choose, the focus remains the same: creating a meaningful experience surrounded by nature, tradition and the people who matter most.

Ceremony fees - Legal ceremonies are arranged directly with the relevant provider and may vary depending on ceremony type.

The Experience

Nordic Heritage is designed to be more than a wedding day.

Over three days and two nights, you are invited to slow down, settle into your surroundings and focus on what truly matters – your relationship, your story and the experience you are creating together.

Stay in beautifully restored historic buildings surrounded by forests, cultural landscapes and quiet countryside. Wake up to birdsong and morning light filtering through the trees. Take your time. Enjoy locally inspired meals, explore the area at your own pace and embrace the slower rhythm of rural Norway.

Your wedding day is designed to feel relaxed and meaningful. Begin the morning together, enjoy a slow breakfast and prepare for the ceremony without rushing from one moment to the next.

After exchanging vows, there is time to celebrate, explore and create beautiful memories together. Share a meal, enjoy the landscape, listen to traditional music and experience the unique atmosphere of a place where history is still lived and celebrated.

For couples who wish to immerse themselves even further, additional experiences such as folk music, guided local experiences, outdoor dining or evening gatherings around the fire can be arranged.

This is not about filling every hour with activities.

It is about creating space to be present, connect and celebrate your story in a meaningful way.
